    Wilmington Weekend

Hi, friends! After living in North Carolina for 16 years, I finally made it to Wilmington this past weekend. I don’t know what took me so long to visit, considering I’ve been to Charleston like five times?! I feel a little bit silly saying this but before this weekend, I thought Wilmington was a small town with UNCW and a beach nearby but it was both a lot bigger and more happening than I expected. Here’s how we spent a weekend in Wilmington: ALL THE FOOD We drove from Durham Friday morning straight to Indochine Restaurant. Indochine seems to be one of those institutions and it lived up to the…

    Afternoon (Tea) at Fearrington

At the end of October, my sisters and I treated our mom to an afternoon at Fearrington House in Pittsboro! This was our second year of doing an afternoon tea for our mom’s birthdays after the inaugural tea at Sugar Magnolia in 2021. It has taken me a few months but I’m sharing more about the Fearrington House’s afternoon tea as well as the Fearrington Village itself. Located in Pittsboro, Fearrington House is about half an hour away from me in Durham. The drive might be closer to an hour if you’re in Raleigh or somewhere else in the Triangle area. Don’t let the distance deter you though! You can…

    Yamazushi Dinner

I had first learned about Yamazushi years ago on Bull City subreddit. Located in an unassuming spot at Woodcroft Shopping Center, Yamazushi is known for their Kaiseki, or traditional Japanese multi-course dinner. I finally had a chance to experience Yamazushi this past week so I thought I’d document this on the blog to share with you! WHAT YOU’RE SIGNING UP FOR & RESERVATION PROCESS Yamazushi does Kaiseki-style dinners exclusively with specific menu items changing seasonally. At $150 price tag per person (and 20% gratuity), it’s not an everyday or even a casual date night spot (definitely the most expensive meal I’ve personally had in life so far!). They’re only open…

Durham Date Night: Saint James Seafood

If you haven’t heard already, Saint James Seafood is open back up after almost two years! I used to walk by Saint James Seafood every day to catch the bus when I worked at Duke, and I finally got to go after almost four years haha. I was trying to think of a place to celebrate Alex’s birthday and Saint James Seafood’s reopening was a sign from the universe. We dined in the first Friday they were open, and they had a packed house! I strongly encourage you to make a reservation, especially if you want to go during the weekend. FYI They do not have outdoor seating, and their…

Durham Date Night: Mothers & Sons

Can you believe it took me over 4+ years of living in Durham to make it Mothers & Sons? Well, I am glad that has been fixed. If you’re new to the Triangle area or unfamiliar, Mothers & Sons Trattoria is an Italian restaurant in downtown Durham. Alex and I FINALLY checked out Mothers & Sons during the Triangle Restaurant Week. During the Triangle Restaurant Week, a number of participating restaurants offer two or three-course menu options with fixed pricing. You can check out the Triangle Restaurant Week website for the list of restaurants and menus. I find it to be a great way to try a new-to-me restaurant! Mothers…
