Our First Ever Beach Week! Pt. 1 Beaufort

Hi, friends! I’m here to recap our first ever beach week, or rather the first part of it. Since Rex and I have been working from home full-time since the beginning of the pandemic (we were hybrid worker bees before), we had tossed around the idea of working from not-home, and it finally happened! Although I’m more of a mountain person (or 계곡 person IYKYK), Rex has been wanting to go to the beach so we decided to visit a couple of coastal towns in the state. We loved Beaufort last time we visited and have been meaning to go back the last couple of years so that was a…

What I Read in June 2024

Happy July, friends! Here’s everything I read last month: JUST FOR THE SUMMER by Abby Jimenez Just for the Summer is the third book in the Part of Your World Series and also the third Abby Jimenez book for me! As she has done with Part of Your World and Yours Truly, Abby Jimenez incorporates challenging topics into a romantic story, reflecting real life. Not sure if it’s because this love story starts on Reddit or if it’s because the two main characters have a very normal job (a nurse and a software developer) but Just for the Summer felt even more real and relatable. THE SYMPATHIZER by Viet Thanh…

What I Read in May 2024

Hello, friends! May was a surprisingly prolific reading month for me. I’ve been needlepointing a lot (currently working on my first Christmas stocking!) which means lots of audiobooks. I might also be finally becoming a Kindle girly–the minutes left remaining in chapter have been really motivating! I also prioritized tackling my TBR backlog which feels really good. Anyways, here’s everything I read in May: THE ABSOLUTIST by John Boyne The Heart’s Invisible Furies is one of my favorite books, and I had been meaning to read more from John Boyne. Well, it only took me five years but here we are! While on the shorter end, The Absolutist is yet…

    Our First Utah Trip!

Hi, friends! Rex and I just returned from our “big” trip out West this year, and we had a blast! We were mostly in Utah to visit a couple of the national parks out there (both of our first time in Utah!) and flew in and out of Vegas via Southwest (both of our first time flying Southwest too). WHERE WE STAYED While in Utah, we stayed at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort which is to the east of Zion National Park. We opted for the glamping route and stayed at one of their Conestoga Wagons. It was a fun experience staying in an old Western-style wagon! The wagons have electricity…

What I Read in April 2024

Hi, friends! WHITE TEARS/BROWN SCARS: HOW WHITE FEMINISM BETRAYS WOMEN OF COLOR by Ruby Hamad In White Tears/Brown Scars, Ruby Hamad writes about the racism experienced by women of color, highlighting the intersectionality of race and sex. She intertwines her personal story, stories of other women, historical text, and references to popular culture in her storytelling. White it felt validating (and angering at times) to read as a woman of color, I hope many white women read text like this to understand the harm white feminism causes not only to other women but to women’ rights as a whole. LONESOME DOVE by Larry McMurtry Finishing Lonesome Dove felt like an…
