    Postcards from SATX

Hi, friends! Rex and I are back from a quick weekend trip to San Antonio, TX where we visited one of Rex’s brothers and his fiancĂ©e. It was my second time in Texas ever (first time was in Austin back in 2021) and can I just say I liked San Antonio much better than Austin…. đź‘€ I didn’t take a ton of photos because I really did my best to go with the flow since Rex’s brother and his fiancĂ©e are not used to me being extra. As I say this, I am realizing how many photos I am including in this blog post haha! Here are some snaps from…

What I Read in February 2025

Hi, friends! February was a short month but I read quite a bit, though a couple of my reads are technically not real books… here’s everything I read last month: THE MAKING OF ASIAN AMERICA by Erika Lee Asian Americans are often left out of American history, and it’s important for me that I make efforts to seek out stories about Asian people in America. The Making of Asian America may be the most recent, comprehensive work about Asian American History as it covers events that predate the founding of the United States all the way through mid-2010s. Unsurprisingly, I learned so much while reading The Making of Asian America–the…

    Winter Weekend in Wilmington

Hi, friends! Rex and I took a very quick weekend trip to Wilmington during President’s Day Weekend, and it was the loveliest time! I have been wanting to visit Wilmington since my very first time just a couple of years ago, and it was Rex’s first time in Wilmington actually. We went for just Saturday and Sunday and decided to not rush getting there. Leaving from Durham, we arrived just around lunchtime and went straight for CheeseSmith. Their Landfall location is pretty new, I think. It’s basically in a strip mall so it was very easy to get to and find parking in. Somehow, the grilled cheeses were better than…

    Galentine’s 2025

I always say Christmas is my favorite holiday but I think it’s actually tied with Galentine’s Day (Ă  la Leslie Knope). Beginning in 2020 (right before the pandemic), I started hosting a gathering to celebrate Galentine’s Day back and kept up with it most of the years since. This year, I decided to step it up a little bit (only because I recently started feeling like my pre-pandemic self) and it was my favorite Galentine’s celebration to date! As I did with Cool People Christmas Party (which I’m just realizing I never shared on the blog!!!), I started the prep and setup in advance. I ordered some helium-filled heart-shaped balloons…

What I Read in January 2025

Hi, friends! Now that January is FINALLY over (it’s always the longest month of the year…), I’m sharing my thoughts on the six books I read in January: ALL ABOUT LOVE by bell hooks This was a partial re-read since I attempted to read All About Love a while back but I tend to be slower with this genre/format (a collection of “self-help” essays) and I had to return the library book before I could finish it. Reading a chapter or two each day but not every day, it took me a couple of weeks to finish All About Love and I see myself returning to it (at least certain…
