What I Got in My Second thredUP Order

Hi, friends! I have purged my closet quite a bit recently and got rid of all the clothes that do not fit me anymore. Because I have been wanting to buy secondhand clothes in efforts to make more sustainable choices, I decided to get some new-to-me clothes from thredUP, an online consignment/thrift store.

While this was only my second time placing an order from thredUP, I browse it quite frequently. Because there are a lot of listings on thredUP, I always filter for “My Sizes” (you can preset this) and “New with Tags” or “Like-New” conditions to make it less overwhelming. I also recommend looking at a specific brand you usually shop from.

I ordered three J. Crew skirts all in size 2 and I am happy to report they fit great and look like new! Here are what the skirts look like on me and how I plan to style them:

J. Crew Seersucker Textured Wrap Mini Skirt

This is definitely a summer skirt but I can’t wait to wear it in warmer months! It looks like a true faux wrap from the front but it has a zipper on the back. I put the skirt on right out of the bag but will for sure steam it before wearing, especially the belt straps. I would pair it with a white top like I did here and sandals.

How much I paid: $13.99

J. Crew Faux Leather Mini Skirt

This is a duplicate of a skirt I actually own already but has become too small so I got myself a “new” one in my current size. I was really hesitant to buy this because I felt silly buying something I already have but I realize it’s sillier to squeeze into a too-small skirt. I really love the faux leather skirt look and decided spending less than $20 to have one that fits me comfortably is worth it!

I find faux leather to be really versatile–I would wear it casually with a top like this and flats or dress it up with a button down or a nicer blouse with block or strappy heels. I also love putting a chunky sweater over faux leather skirt.

How much I paid: $16.99

J. Crew Ruffle Mini Skirt in Houndstooth

Isn’t this skirt so cute?! It gets bonus points for having an elastic waistband in the back. I see myself wearing it with a plain white or black top but maybe with a beige or tan tissue turtleneck too?! I will take out my riding boots for this skirt but also wear them with flats. I think it’ll be a look with a black top, black tights, and black shoes.

How much I paid: $22.99

Here’s to more thrifting and secondhand fashion!
