What I Read in July 2022 (+ Life & Reading Updates)
Hi, friends! I shared a little bit on Instagram last month but I’m struggling a little bit which is the reason behind the lack of content recently from me across the board. Letters Bookshop Sidecar Book Subscription Review
While I love my local public library, the combination of a local bookstore + monthly book subscription + surprise book picks won me over and I recently signed up for Sidecar Book Subscription by Letters Bookshop. Now after three months of having the subscription, I’m sitting down to write this review post! Spoiler alert–I love it and renewed my subscription already. If you’re not local to the Triangle or not yet familiar, Letters Bookshop is an independent bookstore located in downtown Durham that sells both new and used books. What I Read in June 2022
Welp, it’s officially July (or so I wrote at the end of June though it has taken me a three-day holiday weekend to actually write and publish this post)! Our Charleston Trip 2022
Hi, friends! After our trip to Charleston last year, I wrote about what we did and what we ate during our stay. Alex and I spent this past week-ish in Charleston and had the best time so naturally, I had to share more on the blog! Where We Stayed We split our stay between two places during our five-day stay in Charleston. For the first half of the trip, we stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel in historic downtown. What I Read in May 2022
We’ve now made it to June somehow! May was a pretty good reading month for me, though a bit unusual!? I mostly read two series–Bridgertons & Wayward Children–though I squeezed in another book along with those: ON JUNETEENTH by Annette Gordon-Reed – 4.25 stars As a Texan and a Black woman and a historian, Gordon-Reed tells the complicated history of Texas and origins of Juneteenth. To be quite frank, I knew very little about Texas history until I visited Austin last year and went to a couple of history museums. On Juneteenth was further enlightening.
