Afternoon Tea at Sugar Magnolia Cafe
For my mom’s birthday this year, we did an afternoon tea at Sugar Magnolia Cafe in Wake Forest, North Carolina! We were making a reservation a bit late, and thankfully Sugar Magnolia could fit us in on my mom’s actual birthday. Making a reservation was easy and straightforward! I called first but their voice mail directs you to send them an email. They are extremely responsive, which I appreciate.
Sugar Magnolia offers a few different tiers of afternoon tea, and we opted for The Donna Lou “Magnolia Tea”, which is about $26 per person. While it is their fanciest option, it is comparable to the standard option for afternoon teas in the area. The “Magnolia Tea” comes with a pot of tea, coffee, or a mimosa. Food-wise, you will start with a salad (I enjoyed the house dressing). Then you are presented with a 3-tiered tea tray full of sandwiches (you get to pick 3), scones, and little desserts!
For sandwiches, we chose chicken salad on croissant, pimento on white bread, and capers on ciabatta with melted mozzarella. Of the desserts, our favorite was the biscotti hands-down! It is not a ton of food you but we all left completely stuffed after all the snacks and tea. You can get more water added to your tea pots so you might be sipping on your tea for a while!
We had the best time and are wanting to do all the afternoon teas in the area! If you are interested, here’s the list of places we have found offering afternoon tea in the Triangle Area:
