Monthly Mumbles #5

Here’s a roundup of everything in the last month or so! A lot of “firsts” and a lot of Sujung happened haha.

Because I have been Yelping since I graduated from college back in 2016, the local Yelp community feels like a big part of my life. While I have been loving virtual events over the last year, I was ecstatic about the last month’s first in-person Yelp event since February/March 2020. I had so much fun seeing old and new faces! I finally got to meet my IG friend Samantha from samij_eats_ so we had to document it! 😉

Alex is a huge concert-goer and we used to go to concerts a lot before the pandemic. With vaccine rollout, more “fun things” are coming back (or were for a while…) and we went to our first concert since I can’t even remember! It was my first Dave Matthews band concert and I might or might not have confused them with Zac Brown band (please don’t come at me lol).

Checking out and taking photos with the sunflowers at Dorothea Dix has become sort of a tradition for me in the last few years. I definitely missed the sunflowers last year (Dix park decided not to plant them) so I made sure to get some photos this year! It was really hot and humid but the photos turned out well so it was all worth it! I even submitted them to WRAL which my mom’s business landlord saw and talked to my mom about haha.

I haven’t seen a lot of my foodie friends during the pandemic but Nancy and Cece were doing a margarita battle to help raise money for the local food bank. They invited some local bloggers to help spread word, and I was happy to join. Nancy and I were matching in our emo yet cottage core dresses so we had to get a photo together!

Sujung was invited to check out the Fridays on the Front Porch at Carolina Inn and let me and Alex tag along! Fun fact: my first job out of college was at UNC. Because I was commuting from Knightdale to Chapel Hill, I didn’t get to do a lot of fun stuff on and around campus so I was happy to have experienced a Friday on the Front Porch!

My college roommate Traci had a baby during the pandemic, and I finally got to meet baby Scarlett! She was adorable and 100% gave me baby fever (don’t worry, it’s not happening!!!). I had missed hanging out with and doing nothing with Traci, and it was lovely to do just that.

The Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise is my guilty pleasure (I even started listening to a recap podcast recently lol). I also love Bull City Ciderworks so when they announced they will be hosting a viewing party for the Bachelorette finale, I put it in my Google calendar without hesitation. They had a whole setup with roses, Will You Accept This Rosé slushie, and everything! And yes, I was #TeamBlake.

Sujung randomly asked me and Alex to go to Barcelona Wine Bar, and you bet our answer to activities involving food and drinks is going to be yes 95% of the time. While waiting for our table, we took a million photos and videos so here’s one of me and Sujungle looking cute. I’ll be sharing more about Barcelona Wine Bar on Instagram so make sure to follow me there!
