What I Read in October of 2024
Happy November, friends! Now that we’re officially entering the holiday season (which starts November 1st in my books), everything feels exciting and cozy. I’ve been reading every morning before I start work which is probably my favorite time of the day. Here’s everything I read in October: THE PERFECTIONIST’S GUIDE TO LOSING CONTROL by Katherine Morgan Schafler At some point my in my 20s, I started identifying as a (partial?) perfectionist. It was a weird and not the healthiest way in which I coped with things. In the last couple of years, I have been getting better about expecting perfect performance from myself (and others to be quite frank!) but…

What I Read in August & September of 2024
Happy Q4, friends! I took a little break in August but had to come back and keep up with my book posts (I’m in my fifth[!) year of doing it monthly). So… here are eight books I read in the month of August plus five books I read in September. A RIVER ENCHANTED by Rebecca Ross A bard is called home to the island he grew up in, and what was supposed to be a short stay turns into a longer, perhaps a permanent return as the island may need him and his ability to call the spirits with his music. I’ve been wanting to read more fantasy, and I…

Our First Ever Beach Week! Pt.2 Outer Banks
Hi, friends! Back today (better late than never!!!) with part 2 of Our First Ever Beach Week! For the second leg of the trip, we booked a place in the town of Manteo in the Outer Banks. Manteo is a charming little coastal town. We were in walking distance (or a short driving distance) from downtown which we walked around every day while we were in town. Downtown Books was one of the cute local shops in Downtown Manteo. It is on the smaller side but it was packed with adorable bookish items and a great selection of titles. Of course, I had to leave with a souvenir–I picked up…

What I Read in July 2024
Hi, friends! I read seven books in the seventh month of this year which I guess is appropriate. Here are my thoughts on the seven books: THE GOOD ENOUGH JOB by Simone Stolzoff Work-life balance is something I’ve given a lot of thought to the last couple of years. My frame of mind has shifted quite a bit during that time, and recently I have begun to feel like I am getting to a happy medium of prioritizing my life while still doing a good job (made possible largely by the new role I started in last November!). The Good Enough Job is not like most self-help books in the…

Our First Ever Beach Week! Pt. 1 Beaufort
Hi, friends! I’m here to recap our first ever beach week, or rather the first part of it. Since Rex and I have been working from home full-time since the beginning of the pandemic (we were hybrid worker bees before), we had tossed around the idea of working from not-home, and it finally happened! Although I’m more of a mountain person (or 계곡 person IYKYK), Rex has been wanting to go to the beach so we decided to visit a couple of coastal towns in the state. We loved Beaufort last time we visited and have been meaning to go back the last couple of years so that was a…
