What We Did and Ate in Austin, TX
For my birthday this year, I took a trip to Austin with Alex, my mom, and one of my sisters. We were only in town for two and half days but managed to do eat and do a bunch of stuff (despite very last minute planning too). Obviously, I am not an Austin expert by any means but hope some people find this post helpful! Eat (Breakfast) Tacos Our very first meal in Texas was tacos, of course! After some brief research on Reddit, we decided to go to Veracruz for breakfast tacos. They have several locations throughout town (and are opening a location in Koreatown in LA!) and we…

Week in Outfits 10.31.2021
LAST WEEK: Inspired by a book I read recently, I have been making effort to wake up earlier around 6am. I would say 7am is my happy wake up time, and I used to get up at 6am but recently, I have been sleeping in until 8am so far it’s a work in progress. On the days I woke up early last week, I worked on the blog before my day job which is why I have been cracking out more blog posts recently! THIS WEEK: I am going to Austin this weekend! I have always wanted to go to Austin, and it’s going to be my first time in…

What I Read in October 2021
Can you believe we only have two more months left of 2021? I have no clue where September and October went! I have gotten a little bit of reading done recently, and here’s what I read in October: KINDRED by Octavia Butler – 4.5 stars TW: racism, rape, violence I read my first Octavia Butler book!!! I had heard of Kindred and Octavier Butler years ago, but it took me years to get around to read it! Kindred, Butler’s most well-known book, follows Dana, a twenty-six year old Black woman living in 1970s California. She finds herself transported to antebellum Maryland (across time & space) repeatedly to save Rufus, a…

Afternoon Tea at Sugar Magnolia Cafe
For my mom’s birthday this year, we did an afternoon tea at Sugar Magnolia Cafe in Wake Forest, North Carolina! We were making a reservation a bit late, and thankfully Sugar Magnolia could fit us in on my mom’s actual birthday. Making a reservation was easy and straightforward! I called first but their voice mail directs you to send them an email. They are extremely responsive, which I appreciate. Sugar Magnolia offers a few different tiers of afternoon tea, and we opted for The Donna Lou “Magnolia Tea”, which is about $26 per person. While it is their fanciest option, it is comparable to the standard option for afternoon teas…

Week in Outfits 10.24.2021
Hi, friends! I am starting (yet) another new series on the blog. While I enjoy writing the Monthly Mumbles series, sometimes catching up on a month of what’s happened feels daunting. Carly, one of the handful of bloggers I read on a daily basis, does Week of Outfits, which has inspired me to start my own version. I have been wanting to make more effort to get out of my sleep clothes and wear more of my wardrobe so I think this series will be a good mix of what I need right now! Warning: I don’t have a big enough mirror to take outfit selfies in so I tried…
