I am back with another Things I Bought Recently post! Here’s the very first Things I Bought Recently post if you missed it. Some of my recent purchases are for the home and some are for myself so there’s a little bit of everything in this post.
I had mentioned in my “What I’m Gifting This Year” post that I ordered a few of these candle care kits from an Etsy shop called Sweet Water Decor. The candle care kit includes a wick dipper, candle snuffer, and wick trimmer. I am happy to report that I am loving it! I have never felt so fancy and put together than when I put out the candle with the candle snuffer or wick dipper. (I may or may not have watched a YouTube video to figure out what the wick dipper was for haha). This is a great buy whether for yourself or as gifts.
Since Alex and I moved in together last spring, I have been wanting to get some furnitures and decor to make our place more homey. We are a no-shoe household and desperately needed additional shoe storage by the front door and these Yamasaki shoe racks were almost exactly what we were looking for. I love the simple design and the wood tops. We actually bought a second one immediately after we assembled the first one! Pottery Barn Teen has them for $76.99 right now which is the cheapest price I have seen. They also ship for free!
This is another home purchase that is making me feel very much like an adult! I have never ever had a standing mirror big enough and this mirror has been a game changer. For a while, I had wanted the very popular Anthropologie mirror but it’s 1) freaking expensive 2) a very specific aesthetic so I was looking for a good size mirror with little to no detail. The rounded corners of this Target mirror really sold me on it. The price is hard to beat too.
Now onto not so fun part—because this item is not eligible for store pickup, I had to get it shipped to my home address which wasn’t as smooth as I would’ve liked. The first mirror was delivered to a wrong address but I didn’t find out about it until more than two weeks later. Since the mirror was never delivered to my address (#ThanskFedEx), I requested a replacement mirror (and my first request wasn’t processed properly so I had to talk to a customer service representative). The replacement mirror arrived with cracks but thankfully before I reached out to customer service again, the neighbor who received my package had left me a note explaining so. TLDR: I am happy with the mirror but not with the delivery (I still need to figure out how to safely dispose of a broken mirror!).
Last month, I was asked to make a large cheeseboard for someone I have known for a long time and I took it as a sign to buy a large rectangular serving board (please no questioning my logic). After days of researching, I settled on this Tondo serving board from Crate & Barrel. I have had their small Tondo round platter for over a year now so I knew that this would be a good quality board. It is HUGE though so be mindful of the size. I used it to make a board for ~20 people.
Earrings are my favorite jewelry and I had to have these J. Crew Factory earrings! In my defense, I had been eyeing them for a while but finally ordered them when they shipped for free. The ones with the black bows are called crystal bow and pearl drop statement earrings and the simpler pearl and gold ones are gold bow and pearl statement earrings (I guess sort of self explanatory). Since I got them, I have been wearing them at least weekly. These are not too big or heavy and would be perfect for the office too.
